Letter: Commissioners vote against the majority of their constituents

I am incensed that Commissioners Martin and Samson have taken it upon themselves to vote against the will of the majority of people in regard to Amendment 64 because of their personal views. Fifty-seven percent of the citizens of Garfield County voted for the allowance of recreational marijuana, which has up to now been grown lawfully in unincorporated Garfield County. As a voter, what is the sense of voting on issues when those in government feel that they know more than their constituents? As a voter, this is a mockery of democracy where “people rule”. With such flagrant abuse of power as has been exhibited by Martin and Samson, these two officials should be recalled immediately.
