Letter: Drivers don’t slow down

The city police have moved their radar trailer to Grand Avenue at the 12th Street ditch. On my way home from my morning walk at around 10:30, I stopped to observe 10 cars pass by the radar machine. Here are the results of my 10-car convenience sample.

Two cars under the speed limit.

Eight cars over the speed limit.

Two (of the eight) slowed down.

Six (of the eight) did not slow down.

This is a small sample, but all I had time for that morning. I encourage other people to take a few minutes of their time to record 10 vehicles and provide their results. With enough community involvement, perhaps we can spur some action to get our laws enforced.
