Letter: Educational lottery bill

I have contacted our area representatives in the Colorado Legislature — Rep. Millie Hamner, Sen. Gail Schwartz, Rep. Bob Rankin, Sen. Randy Baumgardner — during the past week about introducing my educational lottery bill. I am waiting for their feedback. Since Amendment 66 failed last November, I thought that it was time to reintroduce this idea.

The selling point of an educational lottery is that it is not a tax. I believe that public acceptance of this legislation would be positive since it is for a good cause. Colorado could lead the nation in this progressive move to fund K-12 schools with this method.

If citizens of this area think that this is a good idea, I hope that they will contact one of their legislative representatives and request their support of this bill.
