Letter: Fourth of July celebration missed the point

I wanted to comment on the Fourth of July 2015 celebration. The fireworks were awesome as usual. But I was left empty and very upset.

I waited for something that never came. The singing of the national anthem and the pledge of allegiance were never presented. Without the national anthem and the pledge of allegiance the fireworks were without meaning. Is there any excuse for not giving our country the respect it deserves? To the person or people responsible, you should be ashamed. We trust those “in charge” to keep our traditions going. You had time to pass out T-shirts but not time for what was really important.

Please make sure that this does not happen again.
