Letter: Glenwood parking and planning

Brad Gates
New Castle

It is with consistent amazement I read about downtown Glenwood.

In recent years Glenwood built a parking garage. Logic follows to widen the sidewalk adjacent to this parking garage (across from Sunlight Sports), removing parking spaces. Even more recently, during the heated debate on the bridge and its effect on parking and downtown, it made perfect sense to widen Seventh Street sidewalks, removing even more parking.

Now Glenwood DDA decides it’s perfectly logical to put trees and a pedestrian mall on Cooper between Seventh and Eighth.

It’s not a bridge, a bypass, a road, asphalt, concrete or speeding commuter cars that will kill downtown Glenwood. It’s the planning.
