Letter: Global warming denial is useless

Mr. James H. Buerger of Silt has urged us to “balance our factual intake.”

Here are some very basic facts:

All energy on Earth comes from the sun, with the very minor exception of fissile elements like uranium. The planet we live on is finite. The fossil fuels on this planet were produced by the sun and are finite. The time Earth will go around the sun, while not infinite, is very, very long. Renewable energy will eventually be our only source.

The fossil fuels we have left would be better used to make useful, renewable products rather than finding out if burning them causes global warming or not. Global warming denial is a useless exercise in the long run. Renewable energy or extraterrestrial emigration will be our only viable answers. Mars anyone?
