LETTER: Here’s to Mountain Fair

As a resident of Carbondale, living near Sopris Park, I would like to raise my voice in support of Mountain Fair.

Sure, it’s noisy and makes for some parking complications. Mountain Fair comes but once a year. If it’s too lively for a few residents, I suggest that they find solace in a camping trip into the Thompson Divide to keep company with the cows and the coyotes. They can then re-enter our locale with a sense of meaningful activism in honor of our watershed while others are invigorated by time together at Sopris Park.

I feel strongly that our collective, that our community is strengthened by this weekend of food, frolic, music and wares. It’s an energy that we don’t sustain year-round, and I, for one, appreciate an annual reminder, during the peak of summer, that this is our town — full of spirit and creativity and music and fun. Thanks to all who work so hard at CCAH to make it happen year after year after year.
