Letter: In praise of Glenwood and Amtrak

W. Mike Weber
Cincinnati, Ohio

I enjoyed a visit to your town last week — 24 hours and a stay in the lodge. Just an FYI, I would not have been there if you did not have passenger rail service. Not to mention the most spectacular route in America, Glenwood Springs to Denver.

As Congress debates “transportation and infrastructure,” members need a reminder that passenger rail is important. Five hundred fifty cities are linked by Amtrak and tens of thousands of city pairs. Yes, tens of thousands.

We invest very little in passenger rail, and we get a system that reflects that. Let’s keep midtown America on the grid.
