Letter: Keep sharing, Mike

Writing can be a strange phenomenon that allows a glimpse at a part of the writer that he or she may not be able, or willing, to express out loud or one on one. I find it interesting that one of the area’s most prolific and opinionated writers of letters to the editor is also very critical of one who choses writing to express their struggles and views via the newspaper. Mr. Kirchenwitz, of all people, should understand the importance of being able to express himself in any media.

In the newspaper, folks have the choice to read the articles and columns or skip them. If you don’t care for the viewpoints of a particular columnist, simply forego reading the column. I would simply prefer to see less personal criticism and more focus on the issues. Mr. Bennett’s articles have highlighted some issues that are plaguing our communities; that of substance abuse, mental illness and suicide. Perhaps it is time to consider what our local communities can and should be doing when it comes to these issues.

Personally, I would like to thank Mr. Bennett for keeping these issues before us. And I would encourage him to keep writing. It is good for the soul and you have an audience that needs to hear what you have to say.
