LETTER: Kellogg’s head stuck in the sand

On the same day I read James Kellogg’s misinformed opinion against being even slightly concerned about the increased level of atmospheric CO2, I read the in the New York Times that an international panel of climate scientists have found with near certainty that human activity is the cause of most of the temperature increase in recent decades.

So, from the ones who really look at the data, global warming caused by human burning of fossil fuels is serious, and could lead to even greater sea level rise than they have predicted so far. Their report emphasizes that the basic facts about climate change are even more established than ever, and global concern is justified.

So sit there in your cozy Roaring Fork home by the creek, and feel smug that you know more about global climate than the people actually studying it. And continue to stick your head in the sand and think all this is made up by people whose only incentive is wanting more taxpayer dollars to pay for their foolish research. Don’t believe that they might actually know something you don’t, and they are afraid for the continuance of life as we know it on this planet.
