LETTER: Local Authors Exposition was a wonderful experience

On behalf of all the local authors who participated in Garfield County Libraries Local Authors Exposition, I would like to say thank you for a wonderful opportunity to first get to know all these wonderful writer/storytellers as well as getting to know and appreciate the hard work that our librarians have gone to in order to help us market our books to our neighbors and friends.

Thanks especially to Kileen Granata and Amelia Shelly for their vision of a Local Authors Exposition and their continued desire to keep us all networking in support of each other. I personally was welcomed by the Rifle staff as well as the Silt staff, to whom I would also like to give a special thanks for their warm welcome and comfortable environments.

For those not able to attend I would like to share a bit of your local author’s diversity. From Parachute to Carbondale our libraries welcomed almost 30 authors to present their books to our communities. Among the many genre, there were at least seven children’s books, six non-fiction local history books, three self-help non-fiction books, four young adult fiction books, and six fictional books from a land of fairies to stories of our valley from Aspen to Marble to Rifle.

I found each author’s work entertaining, and in many cases much to be learned about our local history both real and fictionalized. Each Library has a donated copy of each author’s work(s), which can be checked out by all who are interested in our own county’s diverse group of writers.

For specific information regarding each author and their work(s), go to the web page for the Garfield County Libraries and then to special events where all have short bio on themselves and their books. Most importantly though, thank your librarians.
