Letter: No more new taxes

After last year’s multimillion-dollar bond approved for the school district, residents in Carbondale shouldn’t face any more tax increases. People say it’s only $7 more a month, but you add that to the other potential tax also on the ballot and the one that can come next election and the next one, it all adds up to a lot of money for families who don’t see increases in their paychecks as fast as taxes go up.

Our valley is already rich in resources, either through government programs or NGOs. I’d rather give the $7 to the United Nations to help the immigrants escaping wars in their countries.
