Letter: Offended by ‘Happy holidays’

I am sick to death of “Happy Holidays.” There are holiday cards, holiday trees, holiday lights, etc. Christmas was started over 2,000 years ago to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. That is what Christmas is.

We give gifts to emulate the magi, who brought gifts to the baby Jesus. If you don’t like it, don’t celebrate/participate. Oh, no … we can’t have that. What would happen to the retailers? They wouldn’t be making millions off of people who spend money they don’t have because they feel they are obligated to buy presents.

If you are offended by Christmas, too bad. I am offended by “Happy Holidays.” Oh, and for those of you who like to abbreviate by using “Xmas”, how about using “Cmas?” It doesn’t take any more effort.
