Letter: Officers’ quick thinking

Recently the Carbondale fire district ambulance crew was called to a reported unresponsive child in Carbondale. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Carbondale Police Department for their work.

The officers on scene, specifically Officer Steve Kuhl, acted in a most professional manner under the most stressful of situations. Officer Kuhl met the ambulance at the curb with the infant child in his arms, maintaining its airway and thus helping the child to breathe. This quick thinking allowed for an immediate transport to definitive care at Valley View Hospital with a 1 minute on-scene time.

Thank you, officers, for your professional and compassionate service to our community.
