Letter: Overdosed on taxes
Carbondale property owners have seen their taxes significantly escalated not only by increases in their house valuations but also by the Re-1 school bond and the Carbondale and Rural Fire District mill levies. Their taxes will also increase if Ballot Issue 2B is passed. There is also the prospect of a tax on electricity and natural gas usage, Ballot Issue 2A.
Furthermore, a column in the March 11 Post Independent suggests that both the state income tax and sales tax may be raised this year. There is a simple remedy to prevent a tax overdose — simply vote no on the newly proposed taxes.
