Letter: Please help after arson

Tobie Thurman
Independent Living Program Manager

A senseless act of arson to our Center for Independence office at the Third Street Center in Carbondale resulted in the loss of computers and other equipment, furniture and supplies. It is not believed to have been a direct target to our organization and continues to be under the investigation by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

Even the smallest of donations to help us get back on our feet will be helpful. In the meantime, I am using an office generously provided by the Garfield County Housing Authority. I serve Garfield, Pitkin, Eagle, Lake and Chaffee counties without additional staff. Help me keep helping the disabled, homeless, private citizens and veterans of our community. In 2015, many homeless are now on their way to having a subsidized home. Many disabled are now receiving medical treatment, food assistance, other public benefits and disability income as a result of community and government collaboration with the Center for Independence.

Donate online at http://cfigj.org/give or by check sent to Center for Independence’s home office: 740 Gunnison Ave., Grand Junction, CO 81501, Attention: Fire Relief — Linda Taylor.
