Letter: Stop making American workers compete with cheap foreign labor

The recent calls for increasing the minimum wage are a meaningless feel-good, quick fix that doesn’t fix anything. If you raise the wage artificially through legislation, prices and inflation go up and the net gain is zero or less. Besides that, only 3 percent of the labor force would benefit.

The way to real, higher wages for everyone is to restrict the deluge of cheap foreign workers the Senate immigration bill seeks to foist on American workers. Let the law of supply and demand raise the real wages of all strata of Americans.

The way to take a bite out of the income inequality Obama pays lip service to is to stop making American workers compete unfairly with half-price foreign labor. Screw big business and the greedy 1 percenters.
