Letter: Taste of New Castle a delightful experience
Being sold out is a good thing. On June 12, 100 lucky people who bought tickets in advance for the Taste of New Castle had a great time eating, socializing and enjoying life in downtown New Castle. The Taste of New Castle was the 2014 fundraiser hosted by the Friends of the New Castle Library.
The goal of the Friends of the New Castle Library was to hold an event that would be fun for its participants, create awareness of the fine restaurants in New Castle, bring people together at the library and raise funds all at the same time. We feel we achieved those goals and now want to thank all who bought tickets and all who helped make the event such a success.
In particular we want to acknowledge and thank the five restaurants that opened their doors and donated a taste of one of their many specialty items to each participant. This event was only possible due to the generous offerings from Lakota Canyon Grill, Elk Creek Mining Company, the Lazy Bear, Grove’s Black Dog Saloon and El Patron Hacienda.
We also want to thank the Town of New Castle for its support and use of the Community Center, the New Castle Library staff for its assistance in selling tickets and providing a venue for the desserts made by the Friends, and the many volunteers who helped out. In addition, we are grateful for the beverages donated by Starbucks, Pepsi, Elmer Suds and the Spirits of New Castle and for the music provided by Craig Snow and the Smuggler Mountain Boys and harpist Kathryn Gracey.
We are confident everyone found New Castle to be a great little town and a great place to dine.
