LETTER: The backcountry is a dangerous place

In reference to your articles on avalanches, an avalanche does not care how much experience you have. Colorado is notoriously dangerous for avalanches because of the patterns of weather and humidity.

Unfortunately, the trend is for more people to head into the backcountry. They have every right to get themselves killed. But they ought not to think we should feel sorry for them or spend lots of money to try to rescue or recover them.
