Letter: The latest giant chicken news

Amy Barr
Rifle

Editor Randy Essex waxed nostalgic about mega-chicken statues in his Monday column. But he failed to mention that Pete, the giant bird at Lee’s Fried Chicken restaurant he remembers from his college days, got a little makeover and was hoisted back up on his perch in mid-October.

What’s more, Lee’s is still serving up the best fried chicken in the Midwest, six days a week, in its original location near Pioneers Park in Lincoln, Nebraska. The wooden building is still the same, and the red vinyl cloths on all of the tables add that little extra touch of class. To check out Pete’s reinstallation video, visit http://tinyurl.com/LeesChicken. I am not making this up.
