Letter: Tipton’s audacity

Fifty-thousand comments with 90 percent being in favor of canceling the gas leases within the Thompson Divide and yet one of our elected officials, Rep. Tipton, sides with the money and greed.

The audacity of his decision is made even more remarkable by stating that we the citizens are committing highway robbery by asking that the leases be canceled. Ironic how there is never any such outrage from him about similar highway robbery when the energy companies charge me 50 cents more per gallon of gas.

Mr. Tipton, this is another case when we, meaning all Americans, need to ask our government to show restraint and listen to the people. Just because we can do something doesn’t give us the right to do it.
