Letter: United Way announces available funds

Amy Barr
Executive director, United Way of Garfield County

United Way of Garfield County, acting as the local board of the Emergency Food & Shelter Program (EFSP), announces the availability of nearly $9,500 as part of Phase 32 allocations from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, via congressional mandate. These specific funds are targeted for organizations located in Garfield County.

As the federal EFSP name implies, organizations providing emergency food and/or shelter services may apply for the money. Past recipients in Garfield County have included organizations such as Advocate Safehouse Project, Catholic Charities, LIFT-UP and The Salvation Army.

A one-time local board conference call will be held at 3 p.m. MDT Tuesday, May 5. The call will include determination of qualifications of interested organizations and preliminary allocation of funds, subsequent to participating organizations’ program registration, and submission and approval of all paperwork to United Way of Garfield County and FEMA’s Emergency Food and Shelter Program.

Representatives of interested organizations should contact the local United Way office at 625-8189 or amy@unitedwaygarco.org for more information and conference-call access numbers.
