Letter: Why should auto registration pay for bus?
The voters voted not too long ago that the state should not be allowed to raise taxes without voter approval, but it was announced on TV news on Christmas Day they were raising vehicle registration fees to pay for a new bus service between Denver and Glenwood Springs. I have to wonder: Why can’t the people using the service pay for it?
They are the people who will benefit most from the service.
I am of the opinion that vehicle registration fees and taxes are the same matter. Just because they have a different name for it does not make it something else; it is still taxes. How come we were not asked if we wanted to pay for a new bus service to benefit tourism?
