The true meaning of Christmas
My sincere gratitude goes out to all the organizations and groups that came together on Dec. 21 to make the Christmas holiday just a little more special for the attendees of Extended Table.
First, thanks go out to the fourth- and fifth-grade students at Glenwood Springs Elementary under the direction of Jeremy Heiser who made Christmas placemats for the attendees to take with them at the end of the dinner. The placements were even laminated by Monica Blake, so they would last through the holidays.
Second, the Rocky Mountain Wranglers 4-H Group came all the way from Rifle to sing Christmas Carols, accompanied by Monica Blake on guitar.
Third, the whole Glenwood Springs High School wrestling team and coaches got their workout by running from the high school down to the Methodist Church to help set up, serve and clean up (and sing Christmas Carols).
And, as always, my thanks go out to the St. Bridget’s Circle from St. Stephen’s Church who so graciously provide food and time month in and month out for the Extended Table.
I have said it time and time again, but the community we live in always comes together and shines for the less fortunate. Bringing Rifle and Glenwood Springs children, teens and adults together to help in this great cause made my heart feel really, really great and brought forth the true meaning of Christmas.
