Letter: Willman for councilor at large
I am writing to urge fellow Glenwood Springs voters to vote for Charlie Willman for councilor at large in the municipal election.
I have known and worked with Charlie for close to 40 years, from the fields of youth soccer to the courtrooms of the Glenwood Springs High Mock Trial teams, as well as being a close rafting, hiking friend.
His involvement in the community has always gone far beyond his practice of law here. He has been involved and is now the head coach of the seven-time state championship mock trial teams.
Charlie has also been one of the driving forces over the last eight years on the Downtown Development Authority. If you’ve enjoyed the outside dining, the planters, the cleaned up alleys and the plans for the confluence area — these have been part of Charlie’s vision of what the downtown area can be.
He has also been heavily involved in the new bridge, to make it both functional and appealing.
Charlie accomplished all this while advocating tirelessly for his clients in his law practice. Charlie is one of the hardest working, most ethical attorneys I know. He fights for the right thing and always fights fair. Besides his legal expertise and decades of experience in most facets of the law, Charlie has also served a municipal judge and city attorney. There is no one else running or on the council with these qualifications.
Charlie is relentless in his giving. He is always there for his family, his friends, his associates in his practice, the mock trial team members, Mountain Valley and many other nonpaid things he believes in. He is always ready to listen to anyone, admit when he is wrong and work hard to finish the job to the best solution for all. Please vote, and please vote for Charlie Willman. Glenwood Springs needs his experience.
