Letter: Willman truly cares
For the past three years I have been involved with the mock trial program at Glenwood Springs High School, and I have been mentored and coached by Charlie Willman while I was in the program.
Now that Charlie is running for at-large City Council, I had to add my perspective as to why he would be a great candidate. I came into the mock trial program a year late (in my sophomore year), and I was immediately welcomed by all due to the atmosphere Charlie and created. Charlie’s coaching allowed for all of the team members’ strengths to be noticed.
With mock trail, there are a lot of arguments and different ideas about what should be done and how to do it. Charlie always made these discussions very productive. He kept the aggressive arguments at a minimum, made sure to recognize all of the opinions, and helped us come to a conclusion that was the best for everyone.
What I really noticed when working with Charlie Willman over the past three years was the massive amount of work he put into both mock trial and his team. Charlie was always there to work with us to prepare for competitions and would spend endless amount of hours to explain any questions that we had about the work we were doing. It was not just what he did to help us in preparation for the case, it was what he did to help us prepare for what would come after mock trial.
Charlie has been more than willing to give advice for college and my future career and truly cares about the choices that I will take after college. He taught me how to reach out and voice my opinions, how to lead a team and how to work together to be great. These personal observations and interactions I have had with Charlie leave no doubt in my mind that he would be a great candidate for this position. Charlie Willman’s passion and his hardworking mentality leave no doubt in my mind that he would be a fantastic city councilman.
