Letter: Wissing’s leadership
I have had the privilege of knowing and working with Amber Wissing for the 11 years that I have practiced dentistry in Glenwood Springs. Amber has served as the office manager at our dental practice under three different dentists, two of which preceded my arrival. I am honored to speak to her abilities as a leader and assure you that Amber is the right person to serve our town on City Council.
Amber began her tenure in dentistry as a dental assistant. Her leadership skills were quickly appreciated in the way she brought the team together, encouraging others in their specific skills, and showing an aptitude for the business side of the practice. Amber was promoted to office manager over a decade ago.
She amazes me in her ability to understand our patients’ needs, to see the big picture in obtaining health in an affordable way, and to work within our team of professionals to attain personal solutions for each patient’s unique dental situation. She leads with wisdom from understanding all sides of the issues and business savvy.
Amber is uniquely decisive. She quickly weighs all sides of an issue, whether it’s managing the team she works with, organizing a fundraiser or helping someone with health options. She has a wisdom that is rare, and a welcoming presence that encourages others to voice their concerns. Amber seeks education (Roaring Fork Leadership Scholar and Athena Young Professional as examples among many). She continually finds new, progressive technologies as well as making established systems work better.
We as a community are fortunate to have the opportunity to elect Amber Wissing to City Council. She has already brought so much good to our community. Let’s give her the platform to carry our city forward through these exciting and challenging times.
Corey I. Johnson, D.D.S.
