Letters to the Editor
The Marines are coming, and they want to assist all families of active or reserve military men and women from Garfield County. We are honoring our servicemen and -women by helping their families bring Christmas home to their children. This service is not based upon financial needs, nor is it limited to just military members.
As we sit at home with our families this year, we all need to stand up and show our support for the men and women of the United States military. This is not based on the rights or wrongs of war, but of honoring the brave families that will be with out their loved ones during the time of year that focus on “Home for the Holidays.” Sign up sheets will be at the following locations and special assistance by calling the following name and numbers. The campaign will begin Dec. 1 and run until the Dec. 12, pick up time and dates will be announced at all locations.

We invite you to join us in celebrating the holiday spirit and ask for your generosity in support of our Mom’s Christmas Program.
Throughout the year, the Family Visitor Programs reach over 450 expecting mothers and new parents from Aspen to Parachute, providing them with educational information regarding their child’s development, health and nutrition, and other support services. Although there are many wonderful agencies which provide toys for children and holiday food baskets for the family, this is one of the few programs that provide gifts for new moms. Your help is requested to make this our best Mom’s Christmas, yet.
Your donation of a new gift item, gift certificate or cash to buy gifts, will help us in our effort. The deadline to make a donation is Dec. 2 so that staff can get these gifts out to the moms they visit. Donations are tax deductible. If you can help, please contact Family Visitor Programs at 945-1234 or drop off goods at 401 23rd St., Suite 204, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601.
Thank you to everyone who donated to Mom’s Christmas last year. Your support means so much to new mothers.
