Congratulations to the Grand Valley High School Cardinals boys and girl’s basketball teams. They both placed first in the league and are onto the regional tournament this weekend in Grand Junction. Artists uniteCalling all artists – frustrated by lack of space and time? Busy working your job or with children all week? Come join a group of Village Artist friends every Sunday afternoon at the Battlement Mesa Activity Center. Bring your art stuff and enjoy the fun of painting and sharing with others. These free Sunday painter sessions will begin March 5 at 1:30 p.m. and end around 4:30 p.m. Get help and advice and at the same time enjoy some time to yourself. For more information, call Maggie Cook at 285-7043.Kung Fu for kidsKids Kung Fu is held every Wednesday evening from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Activity Center. All kids ages 6-12 are welcome. The instructor is Tom Doudy and the cost is $25 per month. Tiger-Crane Kung Fu instruction is also available at the Activity Center. This is held Monday and Friday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The instructors are Tom Doudy and George McConnell. The cost is $25 per month. Celebrating St. Patrick’s DayFran is really excited about the St. Patrick’s Day Dinner/Dance on Friday, March 17, from 7-11 p.m. at the Activity Center. The Walt Smith Trio will be performing for your dancing and listening entertainment. Sunrise Scramble will be catering the event. There will be a cash bar, prizes and surprises. Bring your singing voice, because Fran plans to have everyone singing Irish tunes. Tickets are available at the front desk of the Activity Center for $12.50 per person. For more information, call Fran at 285-9480.Hunter safetyDon’t forget about the Hunter Safety Course being offered on March 18 and 19 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Activity Center. The cost is only $10. All ages can take this course. It’s more convenient to take the class now before the mad rush that occurs every fall.Yard sale is coming upThe Annual Community-Wide Yard Sale sponsored by the Battlement Mesa Activity Center is in the planning stages. The sale will be on Saturday, May 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Anyone interested in participating in the sale and being listed in the shopper’s catalog should pick up a form at the front desk of the Center.Thanks for the supportThe last week has been extremely emotional for all of us that work at Battlement Mesa Company. The loss of our boss, who was also one of our best friends, has left us with a real feeling of emptiness and sorrow.
