Program names Falleniusa Commended StudentAndrew Menke, head of school at Colorado Rocky Mountain School in Carbondale, announced that Karl Fallenius, a senior boarding student from Telluride, has been named a commended student in the 2005 National Merit Scholarship Program.The program recognizes some 34,000 Commended Students throughout the country each year for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the competition for Merit Scholarship awards next spring, commended students placed among the top 5 percent of the more than 1 million students who entered the 2005 National Merit Program by taking the 2003 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.Hillin earns scholarshipfrom the University of RochesterCody Hillin, a Glenwood Springs High graduate, earned the Rush Rhees Scholarship at the University of Rochester. Named for the university’s third president, the scholarship is given to students who score at least a 1,350 on the SAT or 31 or better on the ACT.
