Art and Laurie Breda of New Castle announce the wedding of their daughter, Katharine Breda, to Joseph Lanza, son of Frank Lanza and Carol Patterson of Colorado Springs, on Feb. 1, 2008. Katharine grew up in Glenwood Springs and New Castle, and is a 2002 graduate of Rifle High School. She graduated from Colorado State University in 2006 with a degree in human development and an early childhood/elementary teaching credential. Joseph graduated from Colorado State University in 2005 with a degree in sports medicine. Their winter-themed wedding in Fort Collins was attended by 250 guests, and the couple spent their honeymoon in Florida. Katharine and Joseph are both in full-time ministry with Grace Christian Church of Fort Collins, where they are making their home.
Will and Becky Brandes of Glenwood Springs are pleased to announce the birth of their son, Sawyer Anton Brandes, born at 1:53 p.m. Feb. 3, 2008, in Valley View Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds and was 201⁄2 inches long at birth.Proud grandparents are Larry and Pam Strohmeyer of Rifle. Barb and Greg Keller of Glenwood Springs, and Bill and Carolun Brandes of Kerrville, Texas.
Bea Underwood Elementary School of Parachute sent nine sixth-grade Soaring Eagle Choir members to the second annual Northwest Colorado Invitational Sixth Grade Choral Festival at Rifle High School on Feb. 26. Festival participants sang under the direction of Jane Ashworth from Rifle. Participating schools included Bea Underwood Elementary, Glenwood Springs Middle School, Rifle Middle School and Riverside Middle School.
Brenna Mastro graduated tops in her class in September 2007 with a Par Excellence Award and received a bachelors degree at the Art Institute of Colorado for Digital Media Production. She has just landed a job with 9 News in Denver and starts her new graphic artist career Thursday doing motion graphics. Brenna will design the graphics or pictures which pertain to the story for use during the broadcast. Brenna is a 2003 graduate of Rifle High School and the daughter of Brad and Donna Mastro of New Castle.
