Samantha Marie Kidd was inducted into the Psi Rho Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Colorado Mountain College Feb. 29, 2008.Kidd, of Aspen, majoring in languages, is the daughter of Jerry and Rebecca Kidd of Silt.Phi Theta Kappa is the oldest and most prestigious honor society serving two-year colleges around the world. Students must rank in the top 20 percent of the class to be invited to membership and must maintain high academic standing during their enrollment in the two-year college.

Mike and Julie Pope of Carbondale are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Lindsie Beck, to Ted Schaffner, son of Pete and Patty Schaffner of New Castle.Lindsie is a 2003 Glenwood Springs High School graduate and will be graduating in May from the University of Northern Colorado with a bachelors degree in elementary education.Ted is also a 2003 Glenwood Springs High School graduate and will be graduating from Colorado State University with a bachelors degree in wildlife biology.A July wedding is planned.
Alyssa Herrera and Spencer Lucas of Rifle are pleased to announce the birth of their daughter, Shaelee Marie Lucas, at 8:41 p.m. March 1, 2008, at Valley View Hospital. Shaelee weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces, and was 19 inches long at birth.Proud grandparents are Mark and Dee Lucas, and David and Raquel Herrera, all of Rifle.
Ryan Foraker, son of Greg and Lois Foraker of Glenwood Springs, has been named to the Deans List at Colorado School of Mines for the fall semester.Ryan is a 2007 graduate of Glenwood Springs High School and is studying electrical engineering.
Navy Seaman Recruit Beau J. Temple, son of Jo A. and David I. Temple of Glenwood Springs, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.Temple is a 2006 graduate of Glenwood Springs High School.
Freddie and Linda Flohr of Silt are pleased to announce the birth of their son, Franklin Gerard Flohr, at 10:17 p.m. Feb. 27, 2008. He weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces, and was 20 3/4 inches long at birth.Proud grandparents are Fred and Bernadette Flohr of Glenwood Springs, and Ann Loman of Las Cruces, N.M. Great-grandmother is Grace Betty Detterick of Las Vegas, N.M.
