Sara (Hostettler) Herrick of Durango is pleased to announce the birth of her son, Jesse Elijah Herrick, at 7:18 a.m. March 3, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Durango. He weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces, and was 171⁄2 inches long.Proud grandparents are Park and Kris Hostettler of Silt, and Gordon and Laurie Herrick of Bayfield.

Gilin and Linda Jones of Parachute announce the engagement of their daughter, Julianne Jones, to Joseph Hughes III, son of Joseph Jr. and Mary Jane Hughes of Parachute.Julianne and Joseph will be married at 10 a.m. June 22, 2008, at the Pavilion in Silverthorne.Julianne graduated from Grand Valley High School in Parachute and will be graduating from Colorado Christian University in Lakewood with a major in elementary education.Joseph also attended Grand Valley High School and Colorado Christian University, and later joined the National Guard Army.Julianne and Joseph met in seventh grade and started dating in 10th grade.Everyone who knows this couple is invited to attend the wedding.They will reside in Lakewood.

Congratulations to John Ellsworth, 7, of Glenwood Springs and the Two Rivers Karate Club. John earned a silver medal for sparring at the International Shotokan Karate Federations Mountain States Region Spring Tournament, held in Lone Tree in March.John has been taking karate classes for six months and has earned a yellow belt.
