Tim and Cheryl Heng of Carbondale, and Jim and Colleen Dugan of Fort Collins, are delighted to announce the engagement of their children, Katie Brooke Heng and Thomas Cory Dugan.Katie is a 2000 alumna of Basalt High School, attended Colorado State University and is the Early Childhood and Physical Education sales coordinator for American Educational Products.Tom is a 1998 alumnus of Rocky Mountain High School, proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, and is pursuing his nursing degree from Front Range Community College.A May 2009 wedding is planned in Mexico.
Trevor Hinkey graduated from Colorado State University magna cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in recreation and tourism and business administration May 17, 2008. Trevor is currently completing his internship at the Newport Beach Marriott Coastal Villas in California.He graduated from Glenwood Springs High School. His parents are Bob and Mary Hinkey of Glenwood Springs.
New Elk members for the month of June for the Glenwood Springs Elks Lodge #2286 are Melanie Nichol, Carol Pullem and Aaron Morrissette.
Jessica Marie Drozd, a senior geography/environmental sciences major at the University of Colorado-Boulder has made the College of Arts and Sciences deans list for the Spring Semester 2008. Her family is very proud of her.Jessica is the daughter of Wayne and Jan Treadwell of No Name and Ted and Sherry Drozd of Jackson, Tenn. She graduated from Glenwood Springs High School in 2004; a planned CU graduation is May 2009. Currently she is doing an internship in hydrology in Boulder.
Miles Blair of Rifle High School earned a 2008 EnCana High School Scholarship for outstanding academic achievement, strong commitment to the community and determination to pursue a career in the oil and gas industry. Blair will receive $2,500 annually for up to four years. EnCana scholarships are awarded annually to one graduating student in each school district within an EnCana area of operation pursuing a degree in engineering, geology or geophysics.Blair will pursue an environmental engineering degree at the Colorado School of Mines this fall. A member of Colorado Close Up and a participant in the Science Olympiad, Blair graduated from Rifle High School with a 4.087 grade point average. Throughout high school, he received awards for math and science and was recently awarded the Merit Scholarship from the Colorado School of Mines. The scholarship is awarded directly to the student, and can be used for any college-related financial need, including tuition and fees, textbooks and rent.
