David Dominguez of Glenwood Springs turns 80 years old today, Aug. 8, 2008. After being discharged from the U.S. Army, he came to Glenwood Springs and has been a resident for 52 years. David retired from Mid-Continent Coal and Coke Company in 1990.His wife Molly and children David, Mary, Chris and Margaret wish him a happy 80th birthday.
Cody Dean Hillin, of Glenwood Springs, graduated cum laude from the University of Rochester with a bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering.He is the son of Rebecca P arks Phillips and a graduate of Glenwood Springs High School.
Zack and Kalli Fox of Rifle represented the Garfield County 4-H program in Washington, D.C., this past spring and summer. Zack attended the National 4-H Conference in March, as one of six Colorado 4-H students selected to participate in planning national and state 4-H programs.Kalli attended the Citizenship Washington Focus in June, touring the nations capital, visiting the memorials and learning more about U.S. history.Zack and Kalli had the opportunity to meet several Colorado Congressmen.To learn more about these trips available to 4-H members, contact the Garfield County Extension Office.
Fred and Bernadette Flohr are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 9. They were married Aug. 9, 1958, in Denver. They moved to Glenwood Springs in 1973 and owned the Sage Hen, Cedar Lodge and Terra Vista motels, and the Park Avenue Car Wash. Bernadette also worked for the district attorneys office for 20 years.Fred and Bernadette have seven children, 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.Congratulations cards may be sent to them at P.O. Curtis A. Baum and Angela K. McCarthy of Carbondale are pleased to announce the exchange of their wedding vows Aug. 31, 2008, at the Marble Community Church in Marble. The reception will be held that evening in their home.Curtis has been a resident of the Roaring Fork Valley since 1994, and is currently employed at Aspen Valley Harley Davidson in Glenwood Springs. He is the son of Charles and Barbara Baum of Grand Junction; and father of Cory and Joshua Baum of Mountain Home, Idaho.Angela has been a resident of the Roaring Fork Valley since 2005, and is currently employed by and a partner of Carbondale Business Services Inc. She is the daughter of William McCarthy of Carbondale and Kathryn Gallo of Cleveland, Tenn.; and mother of William Farrell of Dallas and James Ferko Jr. of Glenwood Springs.
