Sara Fuller-Geffert, 1994 graduate of Glenwood Springs High School, will begin classes at Wayne State University Medical School in Michigan this week.Sara earned a bachelor of science in biology from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Penn., and a masters degree from Northeastern University in Boston.She hopes to practice oncology research in the future.Her family and friends are very proud of her and wish her well.



Jimi and Casse Mortenson of Eagle are pleased to announce the birth of their daughter, Lyla Janelle Mortenson, at 2:14 p.m. July 3, 2008, at Vail Valley Medical Center. She weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces, and was 201⁄2 inches long at birth. Big sister, Emma, welcomed her home.

At a recent New Castle Lions Club meeting, Trish Farnum was inducted as the clubs newest member. Tori Palmer, Trishs club sponsor, is a charter member of the club, which began in November of 1999.



The Silt Cowboys Baseball Team, boys 8-10 years, went undefeated to win the Rifle tournament July 28. They were sponsored by Double Trouble Trucking of Silt.Head coach is Bill Solinger, assistant coaches are Shane Wade and Chris Bernat, with extra help from Randy Wedhorn and Gene Chaney.The league and tournament consisted of teams from Rangley, Meeker, DeBeque, New Castle, Silt and Rifle.
