Shawn and Jacqueline Binion of Glenwood Springs are pleased to announce the birth of their daughter, Ruby Mae Binion, at 1:54 p.m. Aug. 6, 2008, at Valley View Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces, and was 20 inches long at birth.Rubys big sister is Madeleine Jane, who is 2 years old.Proud grandparents are Richard and Linda Jones of St. Charles, Ill.; and Dennis and Theresa Binion of Arthur, Ill.

Air Force Airman Crystal S. Thompson has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.She is the daughter of Steven Beham of Glenwood Springs.Her mother and stepfather, Connie and David Tolbert, reside in Big Bear City, Calif.She is a 2004 graduate of Mountain High School, Lake Arrowhead, Calif.

Pvt. Second Class Noah Maxwell Herter-Leffler grew up on Garfield Creek, attended New Castle schools and graduated from Yampah Mountain High School in 2008.He joined the U.S. Army as a senior in high school. He traveled to Fort Benning, Ga., for basic training and advanced individual training, and was a squad leader.Noah is home for a short time, working as a hometown recruiter at the recruiting station in Glenwood Springs. He will be leaving soon for New York State, where he will join his unit at Fort Drum with the 10th Mountain Division.He is the son of Howard Herter-Leffler and Many Slingluff. His family and friends are very proud of him, and know he will come home safely. His family notes he and other young men and women deserve our greatest respect and gratitude.
