Phil Harris of Glenwood Springs turns 50 Jan. 24, 2009. Happy 50th birthday, Phil. We love you. Sayre and Martha Harris

Chelsea Voorheis of Glenwood Springs was named to the deans honor list for the fall 2008 semester at the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kan.

The New Castle Lions Club recently inducted its 2008-09 officers. The event was held at Pattis Main Street Coffeehouse in historic downtown New Castle. In its ninth year, the Lions motto is We Serve, and the group actively assists the New Castle community with projects such as vision screening, building bus shelters, serving the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner and assisting with local health fairs. Holly Morris was recently inducted as the newest member of the New Castle Lions Club. A resident of New Castle, she is also the principal of Riverside Middle School.

Recent open pairs winners from the Sopris Bridge Club of Glenwood Springs are first-place winners Libby Walker and Ronni Corliss of Carbondale and second-place winners Nicky Leigh of Silt and Pam Szedelyi of Glenwood Springs.
