David P. King, 2007 graduate of Glenwood Springs High School and son of Jeanine and Mike King of Glenwood Springs, completed his U.S. Army Basic training at Fort Knox, Ky. in October of 2008.PFC King recently completed Army Ranger Training at Fort Benning, Ga. He is now with the 1-75th Ranger Regiment, stationed at Hunter Army Airfield, Savannah, Ga.

Jennie D. Walter, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, turns 100 April 12, 2009. Jennie lives at Grace Care in Glenwood Springs.Son Richard (Sherry) Walter, visited a couple of weeks ago and celebrated Jennies 100th birthday with son Phil (Joan) Walter, their daughter Marcia Randol, and her daughter, Kaitlyn Randol, of Glenwood Springs, and other patients at Grace Care.Jennie was a peach inspector in Palisade during the early 1950s; director of Christian Education at the First Baptist Church during the mid- to late-1950s; and worked for Mesa Junior College, Grand Junction in an administrative capacity from approximately 1962 until she retired.Happy birthday, Jennie, from Richard (Sherry) Walter, Phil (Joan) Walter, Marcia Randol, Kaitlyn Randol.

Hansen Nordsiek, a junior at Michigan Technological University and son of Janice and Henry Nordsiek of Glenwood Springs, has been named a winner of a 2009 Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship. The prestigious scholarship recognizes undergraduate research achievement.
