An upcoming June wedding will unite Jessica Ann Lanuto, daughter of Clifford and Eileen Lanuto of Glenwood Springs, to Kevin Peterson, son of Janice Peterson of Missoula, Mont., and Craig and Cheri Peterson of Rifle. Jessica and Kevin were engaged in February 2008. Jessica is a 2001 graduate of Glenwood Springs High School and Kevin is a 1997 graduate of Big Sky High School in Missoula. The couple are both employed by Coca Cola Swire in Glenwood Springs.
Jose Jesus and Sadie Ann Gonzalez, and big sister, Chloe, would like to welcome the newest member of their family: Kaden Joseph Gonzalez.Kaden was born at Valley View Hospital at 8:13 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2009. He weighed 8 pounds, 11 ounces, and was 201⁄2 inches long at birth.Proud grandparents are Jesus A. and Juanita E. Gonzalez of Gypsum and Ed and Donna Tasler of Glenwood Springs.
The Carbondale Rotary Club announces its Spring 09 community grant recipients. A total of $7,000 in grants was awarded. Organizations (representatives pictured) receiving grants included: Anderson Ranch Arts Center/Carbondale Council on Arts and Humanities; Basalt High School Project Graduation; Carbondale Community Nonprofit Center; Childhelp River Bridge Center; Colorado Rocky Mountain School; Computers for Kids Foundation; Crystal River Elementary School Kindergarten Writing Center; English In Action; Mountain Regional Housing Corp.; and Roaring Fork Valley Early Learning Fun.
The New Castle Pride boys U14 advanced soccer team, coached by Bryan Vashus with assistant coach Chris Dunn, won the Grand Mesa Fire Invitational soccer tournament (May 16-17) in Grand Junction. New Castle opened up pool play against the Montrose Avalanche, to whom they lost in last seasons final, and lost again 1-0. Their next opponent was the Telluride Crossfire, whom they defeated 4-0. On Sunday, New Castle played as the No. 2 seed and faced the other pools No. 1 seed, Colorado Springs Pride Copa, and won a hard fought battle, 1-0, setting up a rematch against Montrose in the final. After a scoreless tie with only seven minutes left, Jovany Mendez netted the game-winning goal as New Castle won, 1-0.The players are Cory Bauer, Joseph Capraro, Ramon Chairez, Ben Coleman, Noah Corgan, Tias Dacuma, Kenny Dardynski, Alexis Dominguez, Ben Dunn, Gabriel Flores, Jorge Hernandez, Javier Gonzales, Jovany Mendez, Keenan Skelly, Alejandro Talavera and Gerardo Terango.
