Roaring Fork students learn batikLast week, students from Basalt middle and elementary schools had the opportunity to learn with guest artist-in-residence Gary Fey, who has worked in the art of batik-dyed silk for 27 years. Fey guided students, parent volunteers, and Basalt school art teachers Lois Alvarez and Jacquetta Green.The artist’s visit was made possible through an innovative teaching grant through the Roaring Fork Public Education Foundation.
