Lakeisha, Hunter and Colton Long would like to announce the birth of their new baby brother, Cade Morgan Long, born at 9:12 a.m. Feb. 10, 2004, at Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs. He weighed 9 pounds, 7 ounces and was 21 inches long. His parents are Jason and Loretta Long of Silt, and his grandparents are Rumsey and Joyce Gates of Silt, and Bernie and Martha Long of New Castle. Great-grandmother Elvera Long is of Silt.

This note from Lou LaRubio, on why there are no cars at the auto dealerships on the south end of Glenwood Springs:

“When you consider the two-day effort it takes, and logistical nightmare it can be, to relocate over 250 new and used vehicles from four dealer franchises to one site, the thought of having this big a sale can be daunting enough to force one to reconsider, if not question, his sanity.

“But I am totally confident I have assembled a staff capable of handling this sale, so I am going ahead with it anyway.

“So when you are traveling on Highway 82 today, Friday and Saturday and you notice no vehicles on the lots of Canyon Honda and Red Mountain Subaru and Nissan, rest assured, they’re not going out of business. Rather, they’ve assembled their combined inventories at Two Rivers Chevrolet, just west of the Glenwood Springs Mall.

“It’s a one-stop shopping experience the likes of which the Western Slope has never seen.”
