Gilkerson Employee of the Year

at Aspen Valley Hospital

Dawn Gilkerson of Silt was selected as Aspen Valley Hospital’s 2003 Employee of the Year.

Gilkerson has worked at AVH for three years and is the compensation and training coordinator for the human resources department.

For all her hard work Gilkerson received $500 stuffed into an engraved crystal bowl.

Sommers becomes airman

Air Force Airman Jacob A. Sommers has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During the six weeks of training Sommers studied the Air Force’s mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies. He also performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.

Sommers is the son of Sharon Sommers, of Glenwood Springs, and is a 2003 graduate of Glenwood Springs High School.

Happy 90th Velda!

Velda Flinn, born April 5, 1914, celebrated her 90th birthday Monday.

Flinn is a local artist and member of the Glenwood Springs Art Guild and Garden Club.
