Michael Whiddon, a Glenwood Springs High alumni, took first place in the hospitality management event at the annual Professional Business Leader state conference. Whiddon, a junior at Johnson and Wales University in Denver, now has the chance to compete at the national PBL conference in July.

Michael John Katz and Kim Renee Colombo of Newport Beach, Calif., plan to marry June 5, in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Katz graduated from Roaring Fork High School in 1996 and from Colorado State University in 2000. He now works for T-Mobile as an Indirect Sales Manager.

Colombo is a practicing lawyer in Irvine, Calif. They plan to make their home in Newport Beach.

Katz’s parents are Ryb and Chuck Katz of Carbondale, and Colombo’s parents are Carol and Robert Colombo of Sacramento, Calif.

Kylie Fleming, 8, of New Castle, is featured in four paintings in the current Art of the West Magazine. Kylie has been modeling for nationally known artists for over two years. She enjoys dressing up and wants to be an actor like her brother Ryan Fleming. Kylie is saving most of her modeling money for college, but does enjoy a new Bratz doll now and then.
