Online poll says go for bridge money

The current online poll on the Post Independent’s Web site shows a majority leaning toward using federal highway money for the South Bridge project in Glenwood Springs, even if it means diverting money from other state highway projects.

A source of controversy over recent weeks, the GSPI has editorialized against the idea while City Council members, three former mayors and other community leaders support it.

As of 6 p.m. Thursday, with 53 votes cast, the tally shows 52.8 percent favoring using money for the bridge, 37.7 opposing it, and 9.4 percent not sure.
