Happy 50th, Greg!
Greg Beightel turns 50 today. He may have outgrown his sailor suit, but Sierra, Cheyenne, Terri, and Teresa all still think he’s great and as cute as ever. Stop by the Glenwood Amoco to wish him a happy birthday.
Farris completes
Big Sur Marathon
Annie Farris, who is currently working in Yosemite National Park doing spotted owl research, competed in the Big Sur Marathon April 25, with a finishing time of 3:34:35, placing her among the top finishers. As usual, she ran in with a smile. Parents Doug and Dorothea Farris of Carbondale were there to cheer her on.
Roker gives
Glenwood shout-out
Lori Hogan, tourism marketing director for the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association and Vicky Nash, of Resort Trends, who handles public relations for GSCRA, were in New York City promoting Glenwood Springs last month, when they came up with a way to get Glenwood in the national spotlight. After waiting for three hours outside The Today Show studios early in the morning April 20, Today Show host Al Roker finally made his way over to Hogan and Nash and said, “We’ve got some folks here from Glenwood Springs, Colorado!”
All told, they got Glenwood about 15 seconds in millions of homes across the nation.

The Community pages are your pages in the Post Independent. We rely on readers to contribute news and photos to make these pages lively. They appear Tuesday through Sunday.
“Postings” is the place for news of events, meetings and programs that people living in the Roaring Fork and Colorado River valleys should know about. Upcoming events appear once in Postings and then move on in a brief form to our FYI calendar. These items are edited by Dan Thomas.
“Mountain Mailbag” is the place for news about people: births, engagements, weddings, anniversaries, retirements, military and academic honors, vacations, pets and goofy stuff. Ryan Graff edits Mailbag submissions.
E-mail your Postings or Mailbag item to community@postindependent.com, mail or deliver a crisp copy to the newsroom at 2014 Grand Ave., Glenwood Springs, CO 81601, or fax it to 945-4487.
