The family of Almeda Duroux, a Roaring Fork Valley native, is inviting everyone to an 80th birthday celebration. Betty, Almeda’s daughter and a resident of Mountain Valley/Sopris Home, will also be honored for her 60th birthday.

The Durouxes would love for their friends to join them from 2-4 p.m. Saturday July 3, at the Sopris Room in the Eagle County Complex in El Jebel. The family asks that no one bring gifts; friendship is the greatest gift. Information: 927-3549.

Brandy Rippy and Chris Drake, both Glenwood Springs High School graduates, plan to marry Sept. 4. Brandy is a 2004 graduate of Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., and Chris is a 2000 graduate of Colorado State University and will graduate with a master’s in structural engineering from the University of Minnesota. Brandy is the daughter of Gregg and Marilee Rippy, and Chris is the son of Dennis and Terrie Drake, all of Glenwood Springs. The couple will live in Glenwood until Brandy starts the University of Colorado’s medical school in the fall.

Father and son Steve and James Ramsey of New Castle were inadvertently left out of a Father’s Day story on June 20.
