Dallas and Amanda Rippy of Salt Lake City welcomed Stuart Blaise Rippy into the world on Sept. 21. Stuart weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces and was 20 inches long. Stuart is the grandson of Mark and Sue White of Santa Fe, N.M., and Gregg and Marilee Rippy of Glenwood Springs.

Navy Seaman Recruit Kalica-Lani Silas recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. Silas is a 2004 graduate of Glenwood Springs High and the daughter of Robin C. Rutan and Mitchell M. Silas of Glenwood Springs. During the eight-week program, Silas completed a variety of training.
