Myia Magdalynne Valencia, a baby girl, born to Kortnie Valencia of Rifle, at 1:23 p.m. Dec. 22, weighing 6 pounds, 15.6 ounces and measuring 19 1/8 inches long.

The Rifle Wal-Mart donated $500 to the local Kids Voting program for 2004. Manager Will Erickson and assistant manager Gloria Serna presented the check to local director Brenda Buchanan on Dec. 15.

Kids Voting Three Rivers participated in the 2004 election by bringing 53 percent of area students from Basalt to Parachute to the polls to vote for national and local candidates. Kids Voting is a nonprofit and nonpartisan group aimed at raising a generation of informed voters, working with the schools and communities of the valley. Information: Brenda Buchanan, 945-5090.
