U.S. Army Sgt. Stephen C. Palmer has arrived for duty in Giessen, Germany.

Palmer is a pay analyst assigned to C Detachment, 39th Finance Battalion.

He is the son of Stephen D. Palmer, of Columbia, S.C., and Debbie K. Palmer, of Parachute.

Family and friends of Terrance J. Hayes, of Carbondale, would like to congratulate him on being appointed to the Colorado Mining Board of Examiners by Colorado Gov. Bill Owens.

Army Pvt. Jeffrey L. Payne Jr. has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

He is the son of Debby Payne of Silt, and graduated from Yampah Mountain High School in 2000.
